Microgaming on Pin Up — The Reliable Mid-Range

Microgaming is the oldest slot provider in the industry — they released the first online slot in 1994 and they've been publishing certified RTPs longer than most casino operators have existed. Their Pin Up catalog runs around 120 titles with an average RTP of ~95.8%. That's slightly below NetEnt and Pragmatic Play on paper, but the variance across Microgaming's catalog is tighter than any other provider — most of their slots sit between 95.8% and 96.9%.

Tighter variance across a catalog means predictability. When you pick a random Microgaming slot, you can expect it to behave like most other Microgaming slots. That's not something you can say about Pragmatic Play (where the spread from 97.5% to 92% exists in the same catalog) or even NetEnt (where Mega Joker at 99% and Hall of Gods at 95.3% coexist). Microgaming is the reliable mid-range pick.

Top 5 Microgaming Slots by RTP on Pin Up

Immortal Romance (96.86%)

Microgaming's highest non-jackpot RTP on Pin Up. Vampire-themed medium-volatility slot with four separate bonus rounds (one per character). The bonus rounds are the main draw — each plays differently and gives the game genuine replayability despite being over 10 years old. My 600-spin log came in at 96.2%, close to theoretical.

Jurassic Park (96.67%)

Movie-licensed slot with high-quality cutscenes between spins. 96.67% puts it firmly in Microgaming's top tier. The licensing fee drives the visual polish; the math is solid mid-tier rather than exceptional. Good pick if you like themed slots with production value.

Thunderstruck II (96.65%)

Norse mythology theme, 96.65% RTP, medium volatility. The Great Hall of Spins bonus round is one of the most iconic in slot history. 243 paylines (cluster-style), strong graphics for its age, and a reliable RTP figure. Frequently cited alongside Immortal Romance as "the" Microgaming slot.

Break da Bank Again (96.42%)

Older Microgaming classic with a heist theme. 96.42% is lower-tier for this provider but the low-friction simple design makes it a good choice for quick sessions when you don't want to engage with complex bonus mechanics.

Avalon II (95.92%)

Arthurian legend theme with an extensive bonus trail system. 95.92% is actually below Microgaming's average, but the game structure (multi-level bonus rounds) is unique enough that Avalon II deserves a spot in the top 5. For players who value uniqueness over pure RTP.

Mega Moolah — The Jackpot Exception

Why the Base RTP Is Low

Mega Moolah's advertised RTP is usually given as the total including jackpot contribution — roughly 96.4%. The base game RTP (what you actually experience on a per-spin basis without hitting a jackpot) is only around 88.12%. The difference is the contribution pool that funds the progressive jackpot.

If you're playing Mega Moolah for the 96.4% total RTP, you're actually playing a game where your expected value on any single spin without hitting the jackpot is roughly 88%. That's worse than almost any regular Microgaming slot on Pin Up.

When It's Worth Playing

Only when you accept that you're buying a lottery ticket every spin. The chance of hitting the Mega Moolah jackpot is roughly 1 in 50 million per spin at max bet. The jackpot is huge (millions of dollars) but the base game math is bleeding 12% per spin. If you're playing for the base game, Mega Moolah is a bad deal — any of the other Microgaming slots above give you better expected value.

My Microgaming Session Data

I've logged around 3,000 spins total across Microgaming's top 5 titles. Actual returns match theoretical within normal variance across the board: Immortal Romance came in at 96.2% vs 96.86% theoretical (600 spins), Thunderstruck II at 96.1% vs 96.65% (500 spins), Break da Bank Again at 96.8% vs 96.42% (400 spins). The variance is small enough that I'm confident Microgaming's published figures are accurate on Pin Up.

Volatility Notes

Microgaming's volatility distribution is mostly medium, with a handful of high-vol jackpot titles and almost no low-vol options. This makes their catalog less flexible for bankroll matching than NetEnt's (which has low-vol Blood Suckers as a bonus-clearing anchor). For Microgaming, "medium volatility" is the default and there isn't a strong low-vol alternative.

New Microgaming Releases on Pin Up

Microgaming has slowed down their direct releases since partnering with third-party studios. Recent additions to Pin Up are mostly from their partners (Just For The Win, Stormcraft Studios, Triple Edge Studios). RTPs for partner-developed slots still branded as Microgaming match the 95.8–96.9% band. Watch the blog for monthly updates as I track new releases.
